He’s so gentle and patient with her, it makes me tear up just thinking about it. I also didn’t know how happy it would make me to see my husband with my daughter. I’ve only been a mom for a short time, but I will say I’m surprised how each day is different from the next.with new challenges and new moments of joy. What has surprised you most about motherhood? You’ll usually find me in a beautiful kimono, flowy maxi dress or wild printed pants. I’d describe it as bohemian and fashion forward. Well, I like to push the boundaries a little bit but also comfort is really important to me. I use all L’Occitane products but right now I’m currently obsessing over Laura Mercier almond coconut milk soufflé body creme.I also can’t live without a good beach spray for my hair. Especially in the summertime when they are so divine and I can stock up for the week at the farmers market. I am addicted to fruit.strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, peaches, nectarines, you name it. Then head to the kitchen to make some English breakfast tea. Stare at my beautiful baby girl and give her a kiss…she’s so sweet and sleepy in the morning. What’s the first thing you do in the morning? I have a great team working with me and I couldn’t be happier. I love having my own business’s and I can’t believe my job is picking out all the cute clothes and making women happy! It’s SO fun. I feel like women are craving fashion that isn’t cookie cutter-from the mall-and want to support smaller designers and stores. The response to my store has been overwhelming and women come from near and far to shop. Going out on my own was the best decision I ever made, although it wasn’t easy. I felt I had to take a risk like this before we had kids, and if I didn’t do it now, that I may never get the chance. But I had a burning desire to work for myself and pursue the dream I always had, especially before my husband and I started a family. I worked for Urban Outfitters Inc and Anthropologie for ten years, learned a great deal in my experience there, met the most amazing people. Family, friends and fashion are what keep me going.Įver since I was a little girl I loved clothes and always knew I wanted to have a store of my own. I currently live in Long Beach with my husband, our beagle and we just had our first daughter, Indigo Roux on April 9. I got married in Big Sur in 2012 and had the bohemian wedding of my dreams. I graduated from UC Santa Barbara with a BA in Communications and worked in retail most of my life. I grew up in San Diego and am the oldest of four kids in our family. Each member of her team is so friendly and just plain cool! Meet this weeks real mom, Danya Mance! Owner Danya Mance is just as lovely as the boutique she created! This new mom is not only fashion forward but has created a store environment that makes you feel right at home. The amount of amazing jewelry blew my mind. If you’re in Long Beach, head over to her store on 406 Termino Ave.Prismis one of Southern California’s hidden gems! The first time I walked in I was so impressed with the variety of brands including Tigerlily, Cleobella, Flynn Skye, BB Dakota, etc. Seeing her dream become a reality is awe-inspiring. I even ran into Dayna at Home Depot during her construction days. Once that was accomplished she and her husband worked to create everything from the cash wrap to the clothing racks. She had to work through layers of paint, plastic lattice and fake grass to get to the bare bones of the structure. You imagine her starting with a blank canvas, but that wasn’t the case. Years later, she left her job at the store to begin her own venture. I met Dayna at Anthropolgie when I was photographing events at the store. I photographed the store last week and was amazed at how many details I had missed the time before. Dayna’s passion for her store is apparent in every little detail. We need about a million more businesses like this in Long Beach…people who are just amazing at their trade. Prism Boutique has an expertly curated selection of bohemian-style clothing and jewelry in the heart of Belmont Heights. It’s been a while since I’ve highlighted someone from the community, but this one will make up for it.
